Valacyclovir

What Valacyclovir does.
Valacyclovir is an antiviral medication used to treat herpes simplex virus infections, including genital herpes (HSV-2) and oral herpes (HSV-1). It is a prodrug of acyclovir, offering improved absorption and more convenient dosing. It works by interfering with viral DNA replication, stopping the virus from multiplying and shortening the duration of outbreaks. Valacyclovir can be used during outbreaks to speed healing and reduce symptoms, or daily as suppressive therapy to decrease recurrence frequency and viral transmission. For cold sores, when taken early it may prevent sores from fully developing, and it may also be used as suppressive therapy in individuals with frequent or severe recurrences.
For clinician-directed care.
Valacyclovir is prescribed through our General Health program for patients whose intake, symptoms and labs point to a good fit. Your provider confirms it's right for you before anything begins.
A realistic timeline.
Response differs from patient to patient. Your provider tracks symptoms and labs throughout your regimen and adjusts dosing so progress builds steadily rather than all at once.
Your body adjusts to the protocol. Early changes are usually subtle — sleep, energy, appetite.
Effects become consistent enough to notice week to week, and dosing is refined if needed.
The changes you came for show up and hold, provided the basics stay in place.
Your provider settles on the lowest effective plan to keep the result.
Timelines are typical ranges reported in clinical use and by Monarch Rx patients. Individual results vary with dose, adherence, baseline health and lifestyle.
